Carbomer 940 is a white powder, crosslinked polyacrylic acid that is polymerized in a toxicologically-preferred cosolvent system. Its self-wetting properties and low dusting make it extremely easy to use for efficient processing. It is an extremely efficient rheology modifier capable of providing high viscosity and forms sparkling clear gels or hydro-alcoholic gels and creams. Its short flow, non-drip properties are ideal for applications such as clear gels, hydroalcholic gels, creams, and lotions

Carbomer 940 polymer(synonym: Carpobol), chemical name: Carboxypolymethylene. It is high molecular weight cross-linked polymer.is a generic name for synthetic high molecular weight polymers of acrylic acid used as thickening,dispersing,suspending and emulsifying agents in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.they may be homopolymers of acryli acid, carbomers as white and fluffy powders .they have the ability to absorb,retain water and swell to many times their original volume.Carbomers codes(934,940,941and 1342)are an indication of molecular weight and the specific components of the polymer.

941	4000-11000	The gels produced with this polymer have excellent clarity. Suggested applications include clear gels, hydro-alcoholic gels, and lotions.
1342	20000-40000	This property makes the product uniquely suitable for aqueous solutions or dispersions containing dissolved salts. In addition, it has improved compatibility in thickening and imparting yield value to ionic surfactants. Suggested applications include clear gels, hydro-alcoholic gels, surfactant systems (specialty shampoos, cleaning products, etc.), and high electrolyte systems (aloe gels, etc.).

Application
